No certification needed

Your first real Caribbean dives

Discover Scuba Diving is the easiest way to try scuba diving while staying in Punta Cana. You do not need a diving certification or previous experience. After the briefing, your instructor completes the essential skills together with you at the descent line in calm shallow water at the beginning of the first dive.

When you feel comfortable, you continue that same first dive and begin exploring the reef. After the surface interval, your second dive is a relaxed guided dive. Your instructor stays close throughout both dives and adapts the pace to you.

  • Two guided Caribbean Sea dives
  • Maximum four participants per instructor

Safety and participation

Every participant completes a diving medical questionnaire. A “yes” answer does not automatically prevent diving, but some answers require written medical clearance before the activity. Please tell us before paying the deposit if you have a medical condition, take medication or are unsure about any question.

The maximum DSD depth is 12 metres, but the real depth is always based on your comfort, skill performance and the day's conditions.

Reservation and flying after diving

A 40 USD deposit per participant secures the reservation after we confirm availability. The remaining balance is normally paid in cash on the diving day. Please review our booking and cancellation policy before reserving.

Because this experience includes two dives, plan at least 18 hours between the final dive and flying. Choose an earlier date if your flight schedule is close.

Important: Discover Scuba Diving is a supervised introductory experience, not a scuba certification. If you love it and want to dive independently with a buddy, your next step is the Open Water Diver course.

Discover Scuba Diving FAQs

What is Discover Scuba Diving?

It is a supervised first scuba experience for complete beginners. After the briefing, you complete the basic skills with your instructor at the beginning of dive one, continue that same dive and then make a second guided dive. It does not provide a diving certification.

How much does Discover Scuba Diving cost?

The Bayahibe experience is 169 USD per person, including two dives, standard equipment and resort transfer from Punta Cana and Bávaro. A selected full-day Saona or Catalina option is 199 USD per person and includes lunch.

Do I need previous experience or a certification?

No. The program is designed for people who have never used scuba equipment. You should be comfortable in the water, listen carefully to the briefing and communicate honestly with your instructor.

What is the minimum age and maximum depth?

The minimum age is 10 years and the maximum depth is 12 metres or 40 feet. There is no goal to reach that depth: your instructor chooses a comfortable depth based on skills, confidence and conditions.

Where do we practise the beginner skills?

At the descent line in calm shallow water at the beginning of the first dive. Your instructor completes the basic skills together with you, and once you feel comfortable, you continue the same dive.

What happens if I feel nervous underwater?

That is normal for many first-time divers. We keep the pace relaxed, repeat skills as needed and stay close. If you do not feel comfortable, we stop or return to shallower water—there is never pressure to continue.

Do I need a medical certificate?

All participants complete a diving medical questionnaire. Some answers require written clearance from a physician before diving. Send us any questions in advance so this does not become a surprise on the morning of your trip.

Can I fly after the experience?

After two dives in one day, plan at least 18 hours between the end of your final dive and a commercial flight. Waiting longer adds additional conservatism.

How do I reserve?

Send your preferred date, hotel, number of participants, ages, heights, weights and shoe sizes by WhatsApp. After we confirm availability, a 40 USD deposit per participant secures the reservation.

Ready for your first two dives?

Send your preferred date, hotel and number of participants. We will confirm availability and help you choose Bayahibe or an island experience.
