Freshwater adventure beneath the Dominican Republic

Padre Nuestro & El Chicho

Discover the limestone caverns near Bayahibe at Padre Nuestro and El Chicho. Clear freshwater, rock formations and beams of natural light create a completely different diving experience from the Caribbean reefs and wrecks.

Every plan is matched to your exact certification and recent experience. Recreational cavern dives remain inside the permitted daylight zone with a direct route to open water. Full cave routes beyond the warning sign are only for properly cave-trained divers.

  • Available by advance request

Two sites, different levels and strict limits

The cavern and cave experience

This is a short overview of the two most requested freshwater sites and the different kinds of diving available. The final location, route and equipment plan depend on access, conditions, certification, recent experience and the interests of the divers.

Recreational Cavern Zone

The recreational option remains in the daylight zone with a direct route to open water. A detailed briefing, controlled buoyancy, slow movement and respect for the guideline help protect both the divers and the fragile formations.

Full Cave for Trained Divers

Beyond the warning sign is a true cave environment without direct access to the surface. Only certified cave divers with suitable experience, equipment and an agreed dive plan may enter this zone. Recreational divers never pass this point.

Two clearly different options

Which dive is right for you?

Recreational cavern diving: for certified divers whose experience, buoyancy and comfort are suitable for the permitted cavern zone. The dive remains close to natural light and a direct exit to open water.

Full cave diving: exclusively for certified cave divers. Please send the exact cave qualification, number of cave dives, recent cave experience and equipment configuration so the guide can assess and plan the dive.
